I have been using New Trent’s products for many years. I have never been disappointed by the chargers I have purchased over the years. When I read about the IMP38B I had my doubts about the case and keyboard. I have been using the Zagg Mate with keyboard for the past year. I really thought I liked it. This was until I opened the IMP38B and started to use it and compare it to the Zagg Mate Keyboard and case. I used the word compare…there is simply no comparison between these two cases. The New Trent IMP38B blows the Zagg product out of the water. The IMP38B provides an easy way to secure the iPad2 within the case itself. This is not a feature that is offered by the Zag Mate case. Having several options for angles is a huge benefit that is not afforded by the Zagg Mate Keyboard case. It doesn’t take too much time to notice that the keyboard is on a slider that moves in and out to give the user several different angles making the typing experience that much better. The keyboard is a bit smaller than the Zagg, but is very easy to get use to and very responsive. The keys mimic the iPad2 home screen and has an automatic on/off key, as well. When you close the IMP83B it sleeps just like the iPad2 smart cover does. The weight of the IMP83B is a bit heavier than the Zagg, but this is a small difference and worth the benefits of the cases design compared to the Zagg Mate.

Pros: Several angles for easy typing.
Setting up the Bluetooth took 3 seconds. The activation button is right on the keyboard. No need for a paper clip or pen.
Holds the iPad2 securely in place at all times.
Extremely comfortable and user friendly keyboard.
Sturdy case that will protect the iPad2
360 Degree turning ratio so that the iPad2 can be used in its horizontal and vertical positions.
Compact carry case with a keyboard unmatched by any other I have seen.

Cons: I will have to get back to you when I discover one!

I highly recommend the New Trent IMP83B to anyone with an iPad2 that is looking for a protective case with an extremely versatile keyboard.

I generally do not leave reviews but felt that I had to speak up for this product. First thing first is the iPad2 definitely needs a back cover because it will get scratched on the bottom, even for the light user, which makes it a little less than perfect :( . In any case, I have used 2 other cases already and this is the best so far. I really like this product thought I did not expect to. I thought it would be heavy and bulky since it looks like that in the picture but it is not! I originally purchased the Zaggmate because I want my iPad2 to function like a mini laptop when I need it to. Zagg provides a great keyboard that is comfortable for typing and least errors in typing (mimics a full sized keyboard the best). However, it did not protect my iPad entirely as it leaves the back exposed, which I was aware of when I bought the product. But what made it not work for me was when I dropped my purse with my iPad/Zagg in it one day, and I’m glad it happened because it changed my mind about the product and about the level of protection I needed, the corner of the Zagg dented. Mind me, I had the iPad/Zagg enclosed in another bag to protect the entire thing. IPad fared the drop great, but the Zagg was no longer the same shape. I could not imagine how I can rely on it to protect my iPad for even one year. The color/paint of the Zagg was also coming off from being put on tabletops just from regular light usage. I cannot allow that to happen on a 100 buck product with just 3 weeks of usage. Needless to say I returned it.

Which brings me to this product. I had bought a “leather” case with keyboard and this at the same time to do a comparison. I am typing this review on the Trent and so far am liking it. No problems. On the other hand, the leather case’s keyboard has its right “shift” key in a far right position and I keep hitting the “end” key when I try to use “shift”. Very frustrating indeed. So be aware of the the keys’ positions on a product before you purchase it.

Another thing that is simply the best about the Trent is that it encases the entire iPad. It fits the iPad2 perfectly, unlike the leather case which is too big for the iPad2. In horizontal position, insert the iPad bottom first and then gently push the top of the iPad into place with a click. The Trent is smooth and well constructed. The rotating screen option is just really cool. It may feel like the case does not close strongly but it does. The feel of the case is just great and feels “expensive” compared to other the cases I have tried. The keyboard does not look cheap and it works well (connects fast and stays connected after some time of not using, unlike the Zagg and the leather case’s board which needs a moment to reconnect after being idle for a few minutes) and it comes with a keyboard silicone gel cover as a bonus. What’s amusing to me is that the ipad is capable of looking like a miniature desktop computer :) . I definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants your iPad protected with a professional look and have a case that feels smooth and nice at the same time. This product is no joke. I am very happy that I decided to purchase it. It deserves more than 5 stars!

I just received this case a few days ago and I’m enjoying it very much. In fact, I’m typing this review on my new Airbender right now!

Pros: Material on the case is very good. Very Protective. I like the keyboard as it didn’t take very long to set up. The size of the case is very good too. Not too bulky. I like that it puts the Ipad on standby when you close the case. Very sturdy. Love that you can position horizontal and vertical. This is great as some cases don’t have that flexibility. I also like that you can use the case without having to use the keyboard and can position it as such. All the openings for the ports aligned perfectly. I like the function keys for various IPad operations: Brightness, volume, keyboard on screen, music controls, and the nice lock feature and home key.

Cons: Takes some getting used to to type on the keyboard. The piece that holds the cover down doesn’t seem too secure but so far it’s holding. I thought the case was a coffee brown but when I got it, it is black. It would be nice if the border of the Ipad 2 was also protected but just snaps into place. Space bar needs a bit of pressure to work. Would be nice to have the “double-space’ equaling a period option.

Overall, I would recommend this case to anyone. It’s really great!
